Eco Low-Tox Cleaning

Effective cleaning that’s safe for your family, pets, and home.

We believe cleaning your home shouldn’t come with harsh fumes, skin irritation, or worry about what’s being used around your kids and pets. That’s why our default approach is low-tox cleaning-using products that are effective, safer, and gentler on your household.

But we’re also honest. Sometimes tougher jobs need stronger products. Here’s exactly what we use, when, and why.

Our Default Approach: Low-Tox Cleaning

What does low-tox mean?

Low-tox (low toxicity) cleaning means using safer, gentler products instead of harsh chemicals and strong fragrances for conventional industrial-strength cleaners.

Our standard products are:

  • Gentler formulas that still deliver professional results

  • Safer around children, pets, and people with sensitivities

  • Low in harsh fumes and strong chemical smells

  • Effective for everyday dirt, grime, and bacteria

This is what we use for regular cleaning, deep cleaning, and most household tasks.

What We Use by Default

Our cleaners carry professional-grade, low-tox cleaning products suitable for:

  • Kitchen benchtops and splashbacks

  • Bathroom surfaces, tiles, and mirrors

  • Floors (tiles, timber, vinyl)

  • General dusting and surface cleaning

  • High-touch areas like door handles and light switches

These products are:

  • Safe for food preparation areas

  • Pet-friendly once dry

  • Gentle enough for homes with babies and young children

  • Effective against everyday bacteria and grime

When We Use Stronger Products

Sometimes low-tox products aren’t enough for the job.

We use stronger cleaning agents when dealing with:

  • Heavy grease buildup (ovens, rangehoods, stovetops)

  • Stubborn soap scum and limescale (showers, glass, taps)

  • Mould and mildew (bathroom tiles, grout, wet areas)

  • Deep sanitation needs (after illness, or for high-risk households)

In these situations:

  • We’ll use the most effective product for the job

  • We always rinse thoroughly after application

  • We ventilate the area properly

  • We let you know in advance if you’ve requested product transparency

We don’t use harsh chemicals just because they’re faster. We use them when they’re genuinely necessary to get the result you’ve paid for.

Safe for Pets, Babies, and Sensitive Households

If you have young children, pets, allergies, or respiratory sensitivities, our low-tox approach is designed with you in mind.

What this means for your household:

  • Pets: All products are pet-safe once surfaces are dry. We can work around feeding times or keep certain areas off-limits until dry.
  • Babies and toddlers: Our default products are gentle enough for homes with crawling babies and curious toddlers.
  • Allergies or asthma: Our cleaners use professional-grade products they trust and know work well. If you have sensitivities, just let us know – you’re welcome to provide specific products you’d like used in your home, and we’ll happily use them.
  • Chemical sensitivities: Prefer fragrance-free or hypoallergenic products? No problem. Simply supply what works for you, and your cleaner will use those instead.

What We DON’T Use

To keep your home safe and our cleaners healthy, we avoid:

  • Products with excessive synthetic fragrances

  • Anything that leaves unsafe residue on food preparation surfaces

  • Products that could damage your surfaces or finishes

We’re trained to match the right product to the right surface, so your home stays clean without unnecessary risk or damage.

Our Honest Eco Stance

We’re not an “eco-first” cleaning company, and we won’t pretend to be.

Here’s our honest position:

  • We prioritise low-tox by default because it’s safer for your family and our team

  • We use stronger products when necessary because some jobs genuinely need them

  • We’re transparent about what we use so you can make informed decisions

Your home, your choice.

Have specific products you want us to use? Just supply them and we’ll happily work with what you provide. We stick with professional-grade products that we know deliver consistent results, but we totally understand if you have your own preferences.

We’ll always be honest about what we use and why – and we’ll respect what matters to you.

Why This Approach Works

Balance.

We’ve found that most Brisbane households want:

  • Effective cleaning that actually works

  • Products that are safe around kids and pets

  • Transparency about what’s being used

  • Flexibility when tougher jobs come up

That’s exactly what our low-tox approach delivers.

You get professional results without harsh chemicals being the default, and honest communication when stronger products are genuinely needed.

FAQ

Low-tox cleaning means using safer, gentler products instead of harsh chemicals and strong fragrances for everyday household cleaning. Our default approach is designed to give you effective results with fewer fumes, less residue, and a better fit for family homes.

Yes. Our default low-tox products are chosen to be safer for homes with children and pets. They are suitable for everyday household surfaces, and products are pet-safe once dry.

Please let us know when you book. We can adjust our approach for households with allergies, asthma, or sensitivities by avoiding strong fragrances and using more suitable products where possible.

Yes. If you have product preferences or ingredients you want us to avoid, let us know before your clean and we will do our best to tailor the service to your household’s needs.

We can work with your preferred products you provide, especially where allergies, sensitivities, or strong personal preferences are involved.

Not completely. Water itself is a chemical, so truly chemical-free cleaning is not possible. What we can offer is a low-tox approach using gentler products, plant-based options, or products you specifically request.

We use stronger products when low-tox options are not enough to do the job properly. That can include heavy grease, stubborn soap scum, limescale, mould, deep sanitisation needs, or tougher stains.

Mould and mildew usually need stronger treatment to remove them properly and help prevent regrowth. In these cases, we use the most effective product for the job, rinse thoroughly, and ventilate the area properly.

Yes. If you want to know exactly what is being used in your home, just ask. We are happy to be transparent about the products we use.

Yes. We match products to the surface being cleaned. What works safely on tiles, for example, may not be right for timber, stone, or other delicate finishes, so we choose products carefully to clean effectively without causing damage.

What Our Clients Say

After a shoulder injury, I had my first clean this week. A team of two ladies came, were on time and were in and out of there in 1 ½ hours. I was very anxious as I had been trying to engage a cleaner for weeks with people either not turning up or not getting back to me. The ladies were lovely and got the job done perfectly. Thank you, Home Style Cleaning.

I had my first clean last week, the lady was very polite knowing I had just had surgery on my work injury. So happy that the lady turned up on time, I had 4 previous weeks with another company where they were 3.5 hrs late I couldn’t get hold of them. Poor communication. Being a house cleaner myself for over 3 years I have OCD but was feeling too sore after my work injury tennis elbow. As my previous clients say since I’ve been off work they can’t get anyone to do a streak free sink. I agree, I’m a perfectionist so I notice when things are missed. I was happy with her clean. And I would recommend this company. 14/9 second clean, was so very happy with my second clean such a lovely lady.

Our home looks great again. After many months of not being able to do a thorough clean myself due to illness, my home is now sparkling clean again. The cleaners were thorough, polite and communicated well with me and each other. Sophie was great always keeping me up to date with the time of arrival, billing etc. I would highly recommend this cleaning service.

We were pleasantly surprised with our first appointment with a gentle soul named Sam. The finished product was exceptional and arrived on time which was also appreciated. She was also very aware of our anxious kitty and went out of her way to accommodate this…I would highly recommend this service.
